James Woods in GHOSTS OF MISSISSIPPI
James Woods has created many powerful characters within the realm of motion pictures, from murderer Gregory Powell in THE ONION FIELD to his recent portrayal of H.R. Haldeman in Oliver Stone's NIXON, among many others.

Born in Utah and raised in Rhode Island, he began his acting career while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and majoring in political science. He appeared in nearly 40 plays at M.I.T., Harvard University and the Theatre Company of Boston before moving to New York City. He made his Broadway debut in "Borstal Boy" and soon appeared in plays such as "Moonchildren" and "The Trial of the Catonsville Nine."

He made his film debut in Elia Kazan's THE VISITORS and appeared with Barbra Streisand in THE WAY WE WERE, followed by roles in ALEX AND THE GYPSY, NIGHT MOVES, SPLIT IMAGE, DISTANCE, FASTWALKING, CAT'S EYE, EYEWITNESS, THE CHOIRBOYS, COP, THE BLACK MARBLE, ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, JOSHUA THEN AND NOW, AGAINST ALL ODDS, TRUE BELIEVER, BEST SELLER, IMMEDIATE FAMILY, THE HARD WAY, DIGGSTOWN, THE BOOST, VIDEODROME, THE GETAWAY, CASINO, THE SPECIALIST and CURSE OF THE STARVING CLASS, among others. He earned an Oscar nomination as Best Actor in SALVADOR and most recently starred in the films KILLER, KICKED IN THE HEAD and CONTACT.
